For Whom He Fights Read online

Before Andronaisa could question, Michael released her, practically tossing her on the floor in his haste. She watched as he made the change from man to wolf, and when he was in his halfway form, he ran out. That Kurt was probably here made her heart leap, but also it made her worried. What if he couldn’t defend himself against Michael? What if Michael killed him? From what Kurt told her, if he dies, she would have no choice but to go back to Michael. That was the last place she wanted to be.

Slowly she started to stand and leave the basement to see what was going on, but as soon as she did, she heard footsteps and she scrambled back and curled up, shaking. Was the battle over already?

“There you are, child. Come on now.” Francine smiled and held her hand out to her.

Andronaisa swallowed and stood clutching her ripped blouse. She noticed that there were two wolves on either side of her as she took her hand. “How’d you find me? Is Kurt here?”

“One of our pack is friends with your ex,” Francine explained, and led her up the stairs and out of the house. The two wolves followed behind them.

Andronaisa was about to ask again about Kurt when she heard the sounds of a battle. Turning, she saw Kurt and Michael attacking each other. This battle was more brutal than the one in the house. She stood transfixed as she watched them. There were more claws and teeth. At one point, she saw Kurt’s claws dig into Michael’s back, drawing blood. Another moment, Michael got the upper hand and his teeth clamped around Kurt’s shoulder. Everyone thought it was over when he couldn’t shake Michael, and he eventually dropped to the ground.

“No! Kurt!” Andronaisa yelled and started toward him, but the wolves blocked her. “Kurt!”

Minutes passed by as Kurt lay on the ground, but eventually he stood up, shaking himself off, and bared his fangs at Michael. He wasn’t done yet. With a roar, he leaped at Michael and the two grappled. If this wasn't a serious moment, Andronaisa would’ve laughed. They looked like two cartoon dogs. All that was needed was the cloud surrounding them. But this was a serious moment. Her potential mate and her ex were fighting. And there wasn’t anything she could do.

After a few minutes, Francine turned to her. “We should take you home.”

“No.” she shook her head. “I want to stay until the end.”

  “Very well.”

“Did you see that?” someone gasped.

  “What?” someone else replied.

  “Kurt. His eyes!”

Andronaisa frowned. What was so fascinating about his eyes? According to him, all wolves have yellow or blue eyes. Some had different color tints around them. But when she looked, she saw his eyes were blood red. She gasped.

“Is...is that a bad thing?” she asked Francine.”

“No. It means he is using his full alpha power. I know he told you that all wolves have blue or yellow eyes. This is not entirely true. An alpha has red eyes. And they only change from yellow or blue when they fully tap into their alpha power. Being as Kurt was the runt of his litter, he always had a rough time as an alpha. Therefore, he never could fully tap into his alpha power. That is, until now.”

Kurt’s eyes were red. Like deep red. He looked like those wolves you see in cartoons with bright red and bulging eyes. Teeth curled back and saliva dripping from their fangs. He looked absolutely feral. And so freaking hot. Andronaisa didn’t think his wolf form could get her hot, but looking at him like that, he was. She moaned as she felt her core grow wet.

Francine chuckled, “And that’s another way you know he’s your mate.”

Andronaisa’s eyes widened. “Did I just...?”

Francine nodded, and Andronaisa looked embarrassed. Biting her lip, she turned back to Kurt and Michael.

Michael was on the ground and Kurt had his jaws around his neck and with a quick jerk of his head, Kurt snapped Michael’s neck.

  Chapter Sixteen

That was it. The fight was over. Kurt had won. Michael lay on the ground, not moving as his body made the change back to man. Andronaisa couldn’t believe it. Not the fact that Kurt beat Michael, but the fact that she wouldn’t have to worry about Michael ever again. She couldn’t wait to tell Stephane, but right now, she had other things on her mind. She walked over toward Kurt as the wolves busied themselves around her. Some dealing with Michael’s body, some tending to Kurt. She knew Kurt could smell her arousal as she got closer. Could see it in the way he eyed her as she drew closer.

Andronaisa wrapped her arms around him and whispered in his ear, “I want you. I need you.”

Unbeknownst to either of them, everyone around them left, leaving them alone in the field. They knew, or had a feeling, that Kurt wouldn’t be able to resist Andronaisa, so they left to give the two some privacy as well as to guard the area, and no one stumbled on the two. Kurt eyed her and groaned before picking her up and letting her legs wrap around him. He couldn’t believe how wet she was already. And it was causing him to lose focus as he carried her to a soft patch of grass.

“You smell so good,” he grunted, laying her down gently and kissing her.

Andronaisa moaned and arched up into the kiss. She was feeling hot all over. Like her body was overheating. Was this how it was when you were with your mate? When you were with the one you were meant to be with? She never felt like this with Michael.

  “Kurt...”

“Shh, I know. You’re okay,” Kurt soothed her.

This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. There was an entire protocol they had to follow. They usually had the ceremony and then the claiming. But Kurt just couldn't resist. And by the way Andronaisa had come up to him, she couldn’t either.

IT WAS NIGHTFALL BY the time Kurt carried a sleeping Andronaisa to the car. Francine and Jonah looked at them. Francine noticed the mark on Andronaisa’s neck and raised an eyebrow.

  “You claimed her?”

Kurt looked sheepish, “I couldn’t help it.”

Francine clicked her tongue. “Well then, we’ll just have to up the ceremony. You know there are protocols to follow, Kurt.”

Kurt looked at his feet, but before he could speak, Francine lay a hand on his shoulder and smiled. “However, I do not blame you. Especially coming out of an alpha battle. Where are you taking her?”

  “For now, back to George’s.”

Francine nodded. “I'll have some of the girls meet her there and talk to her. You need to talk to your mama.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Kurt walked over to his car and lay Andronaisa in the backseat before throwing on the jeans he kept in the trunk. Afterwards, he drove to George’s house.

With Andronaisa asleep in the backseat, the drive was silent. This gave Kurt time to think. Was he rushing things with Andronaisa? Yes, they were mates, but what if he was rushing her? He told her that nothing has to be rushed but here they are a few days after he explained all this to her and he already claimed her. Without the ceremony. True, she asked for it, but still...

  “Kurt?”

Kurt looked at her through the rearview mirror and smiled. “Hey. How are you feeling?”

Andronaisa sat up, wincing slightly. “Sore. But, it's a good sore, you know? But, um, my neck hurts. Is that normal?”

Kurt had the nerve to look embarrassed. “Yeah. That’s what normally happens with the claiming bite. It should go away after a few days.”

Andronaisa nodded and then smiled. “I’m not mad, Kurt.”

“I know, but there are protocols we follow. And... I don’t want you to think I’m rushing you. Especially after I told you that nothing has to be rushed.”

Andronaisa leaned against the back of his seat. “Kurt, first of all, just because there are protocols doesn’t mean that they always have to be followed. Second of all, I don’t think you rushed me. I’m the one who came onto you begging you to claim me.”

It was silent as Kurt thought over what she just said. Yes, she came onto him even so. What if she eventually felt things were being rushed, and she regretted it later?

  “You are thinking too
loud.” Andronaisa shook her head. “So, what happens next?”

“The actual claiming ceremony. We’ll just have the ceremony with a few minor adjustments since we already did the claiming.”

“Can’t you redo the claiming?” she winked at him.

Kurt laughed, “Seriously?” He pulled up to George’s house. “And not exactly. But um, Francine and a couple of girls are coming to talk to you, and I have to talk to my mom. But first we need to see George.”

They climbed out of the car and knocked on the door where it was instantly flung open. “Holy crap! Kurt, I’ve been calling you for hours! Where the fuck have you been? Is Andy okay?”

  Andronaisa laughed, “I’m fine George.”

Kurt and Andronaisa walked into the house, and George’s eyes widened as she noticed the bite mark on Andronaisa’s neck.

“Holy crap! You claimed her? You had the claiming ceremony without me?”

Kurt chuckled, shaking his head. “No. We didn’t have the

  “So what happened to Michael?”

“He’s dead. Kurt kicked his butt! And oh my god, George, you should’ve seen Kurt! His eyes turned from yellow to red. Francine said that he had finally tapped into his alpha power and it was...so hot.”

George snickered, “Now I see what happened.”

Kurt shifted on his feet, and Andronaisa laughed and smacked his arm. “I’m going to call Stephane. I’ll see you later?”

Kurt nodded, kissing her mouth. “Yes. Francine should be by shortly though.”

Andronaisa nodded as she headed to her bedroom. When she was gone, George looked at Kurt.

  “Are you okay?”

“What if this is all too much for her? What if-hey!” Kurt yelped when George smacked him.

“Kurt Williams! When on earth will you stop doubting yourself? Did you see her just now? Have you seen her every time you talk? She’s excited, she’s happy! Mind you, this is the happiest I’ve ever seen her since she moved here.”

  “I know but-”

“But nothing,” George cut him off. “Andronaisa isn’t the only one who’s happy, you know. This is the happiest I’ve seen you in a long time and I’m sure your mom will say the same thing.” George frowned. “Is that what's bothering you? You’re worried about your mom?”

Before Kurt could respond, there was a knock on the door and when George opened it, it was Francine, followed by Dina and Malia. Francine looked at Kurt.

“What are you still doing here? Out. Go. You are to talk to your mother and then meet up with Jonah and Jace.”

Kurt opened his mouth but Francine gave him that overpowering alpha look and he sighed, “Yes ma’am.”

George snickered as Kurt left the house.

THEY WAITED UNTIL THE night of the full moon to have the ceremony. This was good because it allowed Stephane to come and witness his best friend “get married”. He wasn’t too thrilled when he found out that Kurt was a werewolf, but when he heard that Michael had been one too... he was even less than thrilled. While they waited for the full moon which would be in a few days, there were lots of conversations that had been had and preparations that had been made. Kurt knew it was all over when his mother and Francine got together. He knew they wanted everything to be perfect.

“I wish your siblings and your father could be here to see you,” Rosa said one afternoon.

Kurt shrugged, “So do I, but they made their choice, ma.”

Rosa smiled. “I know. And I’m so proud of you, baby. You deserve this. And I know you are worried about me, but I’ll be fine.”

“You act like I’m moving away, Ma,” Kurt snorted.

“Well, you are finally leaving the nest,” Rosa sniffed.

“Yeah, but we’ll still be close by to take care of you.”

In fact, just yesterday, when both Andronaisa and Kurt finished work for the day, they met with Malia. She had taken them to view a few houses, and the one they ended up choosing was the two-bedroom house that was on Lake Shore Drive. It was probably like a ten-minute walk from where Kurt and his mother currently live. Besides the view, what really sold them was that second bedroom. They had said that for now it could be turned into a home office for both of them and then when they had children, it could be turned into a nursery. What Kurt liked most was the ability to add on to the house.

Rosa nodded. “Andronaisa showed me pictures of the house this morning while you were at work. She’s really working on decorating it.”

Kurt laughed, “Well that is her profession.”

Rosa laughed and then sniffed and with a smile in her eye she nodded, “It's time baby.”

WHILE ROSA HELPED KURT get ready for the ceremony, Malia, Dina, and George helped get Andronaisa ready. Malia worked with her clothes, Dina did her makeup, and George did her hair.

“Um...is this dress supposed to be this loose?” Andronaisa asked.

  Malia giggled, “Oh yeah.”

“It makes it easier for him to tear it off of you,” Dina explained.

Andronaisa’s eyes widened. She remembered them talking to her about the chase. And how part of the ceremony was that Kurt had to chase her, which led to the claiming.

“But... we already...” she started, touching her neck.

Dina giggled. “We know, but you think Kurt’s really going to pass up a chance to get you alone?”

Andronaisa felt her face go hot, and George laughed. “Man, I kinda wanna get me a werewolf mate now.”

  “Shut up George,” Andronaisa grumbled.

“What? They make awesome bodyguards and they’re good in bed? Where do I sign up?”

The girls all laughed. Dina looked outside and sniffed. “Come on. It's time.”

The four girls piled into Malia's car and headed to the woods.

  Chapter Seventeen

When Andronaisa saw the area, she was amazed. The wooded area where the ceremony was to take place was separated into two areas. The wedding area, like how she saw in movies, complete with a flowered arch and chairs. And the other area was set up like a reception area, complete with tables of food and seating for people. Lit torches lined the walkway to the wooded area. It was just... amazing. And it took her breath away.

  “Hey Andy.”

Andy smiled as she saw Stephane holding out his hand to her, “Hey.”

  “I can’t believe it. You’re getting married.”

“Technically, I’m getting mated, but it's the same thing I guess.”

Stephane laughed. “Are you ready for it?”

Andronaisa nodded. “I am. I wasn’t sure if I actually was, especially after Michael, but... Stephane, Kurt is... he makes me feel safe. Wanted. I just... I can’t explain it, but whenever I’m around him-”

“You get horny,” George laughed, walking up to them.

  “That’s not true!”

George snickered, “It is. But it's okay. I mean, if I had a good-looking man like him, I’d be getting horny too.”

  “Really, George?” Stephane deadpanned.

“You act like you don’t know me at all, Steph.”

“Speaking of Kurt,” Andronaisa looked around. “Where is he?”

“Hunting,” Dina explained. “It's a crucial part of the ceremony. He hunts and brings back an animal and places it at your feet so be prepared.”

“What am I supposed to do?”

“Say you accept. When that happens the animal, which is most likely a deer or something, will then be taken and cooked and then the rest of the ceremony begins.”

“Andronaisa!” Rosa called and waved her over.

Andronaisa smiled and excused herself before making her way over to Rosa. “Evening Rosa.”

  “Evening Andronaisa. You look lovely.”

  “Thank you.”

  “Are you ready for tonight?”

  Andronaisa nodded, “Yes ma’am.”

Rosa shook her head. “There’s no need for that. You can call me mama if you wish. I am sorry your mother couldn’t be her
e to share this joyous day with you.”

Andronaisa sat down and smiled. “I always wished she would be around to see my wedding day. And while she may not be here physically, she’s here in spirit. She’s still in my heart and that’s the best place for her to be.”

Rosa smiled and nodded before handing her a cup. “Here, drink this. It will help your nerves for the rest of the evening.”

Andronaisa frowned, but drank it. It was bitter and cold. She was about to ask Rosa what it was, but was interrupted when she heard rustling in the trees. She looked around, but no one seemed to be alarmed. However, they were looking at the trees with anticipation, so she did the same. Seconds later, Kurt burst through the trees with a deer in his mouth. Everyone watched as he trotted over to Andronaisa and dropped the deer at her feet. They waited with bated breath for her response.

Andronaisa had never seen a deer, dead or alive, before, and it made her squeamish. She looked down at the deer briefly before looking at Kurt. “I accept,” she responded with a smile on her face.

Cheers rang out and Mr. Marks, the butcher, walked over to take the deer while Kurt ran off to get cleaned up.

“You have made my son so proud,” Rosa said, leading her off to the wedding area.

Andronaisa, who was feeling a little hot under her collar, nodded. “He makes me so happy. After what happened with my ex, I didn’t think I could be this happy again. But he really does.”

Was that a smirk on Rosa’s face? Andronaisa raised an eyebrow and opened her mouth, but just then, Kurt stepped out into the area and her mouth literally dropped. He looked absolutely ravishing in his navy blue camisole and matching bottoms. Immediately she felt her core grow wet and she let out a moan. Kurt’s eyes shifted like the first time they had met. It was then that Andronaisa realized what Rosa gave her. That drink was an aphrodisiac.

  “You’re drooling, dear,” Rosa laughed.

“You’re an evil woman,” Andronaisa shook her head.

Rosa cackled. “I am not. This is what happens.”
